2007 Kids Activities
The Community Environmental Fair Kids Activities are organized
to provide fun, interactive learning for kids about their local environment and help
them think about ways they can change daily activities to be environmentally friendly
and improve quality of life.
Last year's kids' activities were a great success!
This year, we have some new environmental
activities for kids of all ages.
Here's a look at what activities you will see:

Land & Plants
- Idaho Native Plant Society Sah-wah-be Chapter, will have seedings
to take home and teach the importance of how native plants can help our planet.
- When it comes to composting, worms want to help. Students from the Tree Huggers Ecology Club at Century High School
will show the importance of worms in making compost. Let's Feed The Worms!
- Sparky the Fire Dog with the Pocatello Fire Department is coming to the fair to
talk to kids about fire prevention.
- Meet Greta the Frog and learn more about the Portneuf Greenway
Recycling
- The ISU Craft Shop will help kids make wire jewelry, recycled paper beads, and ndwspaper planter boxes.
- Relax, have some free popcorn and watch "Tinka's Planet" a kid's movie about recycling presented by the Bannock County Landfill.
- Make a kite from recycled materials with The Sky's The Limit Volunteers. There will be a kite flying event for those who wish to try out the kite they make.
- Make a kiet from red, white and blue paper table cloths with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 735
Water & Energy
- Have fun learning about ground water by visiting the ground water model at the City of Pocatello Water Department exhibit.
- Find out how much you know about wise use of energy by spinning the wheel of fortune. Answer the question correctly and win a prize.
- Come ride the J.R. Simplot "Pedal-A-Watt" bicycle and find out the energy requirements to power a 60 and 100 watt light bulb.
More Fun Activities
- Go Green Happy Face Bean Bag Toss. Win Happy Face prizes by visiting Cascade Earth Sciences.
- If you didn't get your face painted at last year's event, here's another chance. Maxine and Crew will offer environmental face painting for kids.
- Join the Historic Preservation Commission for a scavenger hunt.
